Friends & Dan McCoy takes the stage as part of St. James' Anglican Church's Noon-Hour Summer Concert Series
On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, audiences are invited to experience an uplifting hour of music, stories, humour and community as Friends & Dan McCoy takes the stage as part of St. James' Anglican Church's Noon-Hour Summer Concert Series.
The free concert runs from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a free-will offering welcomed.
Designed as an all-ages event, the concert promises something for everyone—from
inspiring performances and fascinating stories to audience participation and an exciting
glimpse into the future of community music education.
Bring a friend, family member or
visiting guests and enjoy this unique community celebration before spending the afternoon exploring downtown Orillia with a stop at Mariposa Market or browsing the vinyl selection at Alleycats Music.
The concert will also serve as the official public launch of the new Keyboard by Numbers Seniors Program. Audience volunteers will discover how quickly they can accompany songs using simple numbered chords.
The seniors' program encourages lifelong music-making while highlighting research
connecting musical activity with healthy aging, including benefits for memory, concentration,
coordination and social engagement.
Special guest Peter Seitz will join Dan McCoy during the presentation. Dan McCoy, Peter
Seitz and Russell Hersen are Program Leads for the keyboard initiative being researched
at the University of Toronto's lab school, the Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study.
Their work explores the Keys4Kids method for learners of all ages

Take a walk down memory lane with Scott Woods and his talented band for this high-energy, two-hour live family-friendly show, bursting with festive cheer, amazing trick fiddling, hilarious comedy, sensational step dancing, and your favourite Christmas classics. You’ll hear your favourite sentimental seasonal songs performed with grace and reverence, as well as some fun, up-lifting, toe-tapping music. Scott’s keen wit will keep you laughing, and his prowess on the fiddle will amaze you. Of course, he will also do some of his trick fiddling as well! Enjoy impressive guitar solos by ‘The Telecaster Master’, Steve Piticco. His fingers just ‘fly’ on both his electric and acoustic guitars! Leo Stock, otherwise known as ‘Spaghetti Legs’, will demonstrate his outstanding step dancing, as well as playing his fiddle, singing and playing drums. Scott’s sister, Kendra Woods Norris, adds levity to every show. She covers the piano and bass parts, plays sweet harmonies on the fiddle, and sings. Dive into Theatre and Dance with the Orillia Silver Band! - Bright Nights! Concert
Bright Nights! – Theatre and dance are in the spotlight on the new spring concert from the Orillia Silver Band. All in the public are invited to dive in and enjoy!
Our Bright Nights! takes place on Saturday, June 06, 2026, 7:00 pm at the St. Paul’s Centre in Orillia. Concert tickets are available from the Orillia Silver Band website www.orilliasilverband.com and at the door.
For this event, the band has prepared two wonderful overtures from the operatic theatre repertoire: The eye-opening “Overture to Raymond” by French composer Ambroise Thomas and the brilliant “Overture to Die Fledermaus” by Viennese composer Johann Strauss II.
The musical skills of three of the band’s own soloists will be on offer in this concert as well. Michael Fraser will be playing the tour-de-force euphonium solo “Harlequin” that is composer Philip Sparke’s tribute to the theatre. The scintillating “Jubilance” by William Himes will be presented by the band’s solo cornetist, Jonas Feldman. And solo hornist Rita Arendz will perform the exciting and theatrical “Variations on a Welsh Theme” by composer Peter Kneale. None of these terrific solo showcases is to be missed!
Of course, music specifically targeted as popular dance selections has a place in our Bright Nights! presentation as well. Legendary swing band leader Glenn Miller gave us all many great swing-dance tunes to enjoy forever. Of these favourites, the band will present wonderful arrangements of “In the Mood” and “Pennsylvania 6-5000”. Bring your dance shoes, your partner, and your energy!

The Orillia Concert Band is celebrating 40 Years of Music

On Saturday, May 2, St. Paul’s Centre will be alive with music and memories.
The Orillia Concert Band is celebrating 40 Years of playing great music together and sharing with Orillia and the surrounding area.
It was 1986 when Stan Passfield took on the challenge of creating a community concert band and finding a worthy founding conductor in the person of Bob Plunkett. Bob’s family will be attending in force on May 2. We will have all 3 of our remaining past conductors with usand each one will be leading us through a piece of their choice. Of course our own Randy Hoover will be at the helm. Randy will join the trumpet section while Stan Passfield conducts us, then Roy Menagh, and then James Hilts. Our repertoire will include some compositions by Orillia’s very own, much-loved
Suds Sutherland. Christina Bosco will be our soloist and our MC!
The St. Paul’s Pub Committee will be making refreshments available (cash only) before and after the concert, and during intermission. We can’t wait to have the chance to visit, laugh and thank past Orillia Concert Band players and our wonderful audience for your amazing support and all the fun over the years!
Ticket prices are:
Adult: $25
Seniors (60+): $20
Post-Secondary Students: $15
Youth (5-18): $10
Children under 5 free.
